H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Visits the Chaipattana Foundation’s Black Bengal Goat Domestication Project in Songkla Province

On 20 September, 2016, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn made a royal visit to inspect the operation of the Black Bengal Goat Domestication Project of the Chaipattana Foundation  at the Small Ruminant Research and Development Center, faculty of Natural Resources, Prince of Songkla University in Klong Hoi Khong District, Songkla Province

Prince of Songkla University asked the Chaipattana Foundation for royally granted Black Bengal Goat to be further distributed to local people to serve as a source of income. Her Royal Highness responded to the request by giving out three male goats and one female goat. The experiment on the hybridization of Black Bengal goats and local goats was conducted to support the promotion of livestock in order to serve as the supplement income for the local people in nearby areas as well as in the three border provinces down the south of Thailand.


Moreover, her Royal Highness graciously presented 2 additional Black Bengal Goats to the Chaipattana’s Vegetable Oil Refining and Bio-Diesel Integrated Production Plant in Petchaburi Province to conduct experimental studies on raising goats on leftovers from palm oil activity, as an example for local farmers.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously presented 42 goats to five agencies to breed and to be provided for public benefits. The targeted public areas: were 1. Infantry Division 15, Vajiravudh Base Camp, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. 2. Youth Group of Ban Buyong, Chanae District, Narathiwat Province. 3. Farmers from Moo. 4 Su-ngai Padi Sub-District, Su-Ngai Padi District, Narathiwat province. 4. The 4th Development Division, Khlong Hoi Klong District, Songkla Province. And 5, Goat Farmers Group in Ko Bulon Don, La-Ngu District, Satun Province.
