Member and Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation Travels to Follow up on the Operational Progress of Kwan Phayao Lake Development Action Plan in Phayao Province

On 4 September 2025, Mr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Member and Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, traveled to the University of Phayao to attend a meeting and review the progress of the Phayao Lake Development Action Plan, as well as participate in the Phayao Lake “Sueb Chata” ritual ceremony.
Kwan Phayao Lake covers an area of over 12,000 rai (4,800 acres) and is used for agriculture, fisheries, and water supply purposes. Over time, the watershed forest areas were encroached upon for shifting cultivation, and sediment accumulation along with water hyacinth growth reduced water quality, causing floods and recurring droughts. In response to these challenges, local communities and authorities approached Mr. Sumet Tantivejkul in 2010 to report the issues and request that the matter be presented to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for consideration as a Royal Initiative Project. Subsequently, the Chaipattana Foundation conveyed the request, and Her Royal Highness graciously approved Kwan Phayao Lake Development Project as a Royal Initiative Project, focusing on environmental management and water resource development.
