HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Presided over the Opening Ceremony of the Chaipattana Foundation’s Rice Mill in Ayutthaya Province

On December 3, 2012, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously visited the Chaipattana Foundation’s piece of land in Lat Bua Luang District in Ayutthaya Province to observe the construction of demonstration plots for the chemical-free rice farming pilot project that will lead to GAP (Good Agricultural Practice) quality assured rice production. H.R.H. Princess also watched the demonstration of snail eradication using tea leaf residue as well as harvested “Pathum Thani 1” rice to distribute to local farmers for plantation.

H.R.H. Princess then presided over the opening ceremony of the Chaipattana Foundation’s Rice Mill (Demonstration and Integrated Renewable Energy Development Center) and switched on the power supply, which is generated from rice husk by the Gasification system. The power is intended for usage in the mill and distributed to the nearby Provincial Electricity Authority. In this regard, H.R.H. Princess also listened to a summary report presentation on project activities, such as the Chaipattana Foundation – Big C rice project, production of canned rice for sale at Pat Pat shops, and manufacturing of rice products including germinated brown rice ice-cream, germinated brown rice milk, and roasted germinated brown rice tea.
