HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Harvests Rice at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy

 

On December 6, 2013, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously visited Nakhon Nayok province to harvest rice at the paddy demonstration plot in the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy under the royally-initiated Paddy Farming on Vacant Land Project.

 

 

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness received a briefing on the progress of various project undertakings, as follows:

- The Pathum Thani Rice Research Center, Department of Rice, organized two activities during the 2013 annual rice farming season, including organic jasmine rice farming to produce rice seed, and an ecological redesign project which involved growing crops on rice dikes to as shelters for beneficial insects;

- The Nakhon Nayok Agricultural Department distributed rice seeds to Ban Tha Chai communities for plantation and further distribution; and

- The Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy implemented the New Theory agricultural plot project, which included local vegetable and corn growing, catfish farming, mushroom farming, and annual rice farming. The produce from these activities were used in the Academy’s activities and distributed to nearby communities.
