This time, the RD87 rice was sown in the swamp paddy field. This technique of rice sowing is popular especially in the irrigation area because it provides higher yields. The RD87 rice is the new rice species certified by Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in 2020. The harvesting period of this type of rice is 114 days. This type of rice is in high demand because of its physical quality-long grain with low chalky white belly. The RD87 rice contains low Amylose and has soft texture after being cooked. It is suitable to grow RD87 rice in irrigated paddy field in central region and in lower northern parts of Thailand, with the production around 730 kilograms per rai (1 rai = 0.395 acre).

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also observed the demonstration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for rice production. This is an innovation that can help reduce the labor cost while providing speedy, continual and accurate operation. Once using this technology, the rice can be sown 10 kilograms per drone flight, and it takes only 5-6 minutes to sow for 1 rai (0.395 acre).
