In 2021, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted a permission to Tea Oil and Other Oil Crops Research and Development Center of the Chaipattana Foundation to change the product name from “Tea Seed Oil” to “Camellia Seed Oil” with an objective to reduce confusion among people who mostly understand that it is a tea for drinking and also make the name sound more international.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously told the story about the PatPat Cameillia Seed Oil to the participants and presided over the opening of “PatPat Camellia Seed Oil Festival”. Later, Her Royal Highness proceeded to observe the exhibition. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn once granted an initiative to the Chaipattana Foundation to collaborate with the People’s Republic of China and asked for the Camellia oleifera seeds to be trial grown in Thailand. The royal initiatives of Her Royal Highness helped bring back the fertility of the deteriorated forest areas and generate incomes for the local people while help create the sense of awareness to take care of the forest.
