Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Observe the Operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sonabandit Camp, Mae Hong Son Province

On 2 May 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to observe the operation of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sonabandit Camp and Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) at Pai Wittayakarn School, Pai District, Mae Hong Son Province.

Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sonabandit Camp

Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) at Sonabandit Camp has carried out activities on a total area of 24 acres consisting of;

Agricultural activity: the project uses the royally-granted seeds from Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development to grow vegetables, including the cultivation of fruit trees, organic rice and the production of wooden vinegar, compost, etc.

Animal raising and crossbred cow breeding: the cows are cross-bred with the local breed and Beefmaster, and Charolais and Indubrazil breeds; and Barbari ducks are raised here as well.

Mountain Frogs or Small Green Frogs Raising:  these types of frogs are rare and considered a symbolic animal of Mae Hong Son Province.

In this regard, the Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development and the Director-General of the Department of Fisheries presented the chicken and mountain frog breeders to Her Royal Highness for Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers). In addition, the royal bags were given to the military and police officers who are responsible for border protection in Mae Hong Son Province. On this occasion, the student representative from the 5th Security Management Course for Senior Executives, National Defense College Association under royal patronage, presented 100 brown High Line chickens to Her Royal Highness for further giving to the Director of Hilltribe Community Learning Center "Mae Fah Luang" Ban Pong Khao, non-formal education Galyani Vadhana, along with some money to support the operation of  Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers).

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously delivered royal advice to military personnel along with morale support and encouragement to continue performing their duties.

The Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) “Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) at Pai Wittayakarn School, Pai District, Mae Hong Son Province

During the period of the COVID-19 epidemic, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was greatly concerned on the well-being of the students in remote areas. Her Royal Highness ,therefore, granted a permission to the military officers to assist and provide knowledge to the locals on how to grow safe vegetables for consumption. The Project was graciously named Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food).

Since 2023, Pai Witthayakarn School has included the activities of Thaharn Phandee Project (The Good Farmer Soldiers) Chumchon Bergbarn Aharn Plod Pai” (Happy Community, Healthy Food) into the school’s teaching and learning activities, for example, growing vegetables, making compost, raising field frogs, raising local black-tailed Pradu chicken, etc.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness also observed vegetable cultivation plots of the school and graciously presented the vegetable’s seeds from Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development to the School’s principal. In this regard, the Commander of the 3rd Army Region presented 69 bicycles to Her Royal Highness for further distributing to 16 schools in Mae Hong Son Province.
