Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Presides Over the Opening Ceremony of the “Mural Painting Project at the Cloister” at Rama IX Golden Jubilee Temple
On 3 March 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the “Mural Painting Project at the Cloister” at Rama IX Golden Jubilee Temple in Bangkok.
The mural painting project at the cloister of Rama IX Golden Jubilee Temple was initiated in response to the royal initiative of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, who envisioned mural paintings as a historical record for future generations to study his biography and royal duties during his reign. His Majesty gave royal guidance to design the cloister as a dedicated space for mural paintings.
The mural painting project consists of a total of 65 episodes, categorized into two sections:
Section 1: Royal biography and significant royal ceremonies - 8 episodes
Section 2: Royal-initiated projects - 57 episodes, which include: The Chitralada Royal Project, Projects in Bangkok and the surrounding areas, Projects in the Northern, Northeastern, Central, and Southern regions and the victory through development.
The mural paintings at the cloister were completed in August 2022, and a compilation of all the artworks was published as a picture book titled “Mural Paintings of the Cloister at Rama IX Golden Jubilee Temple”. This project was successfully completed from the faith, unity, and generous contributions of the public, who joined hands and hearts in supporting its creation.
