Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Travels to Cultivate Rice at Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy in Nakhon Nayok Province

On 23 July 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to cultivate the rice variety “RD99,” also known as “Hom Khlong Luang 72,” using the wet seeding method at the 5th Agricultural Demonstration of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province.

The rice harvested this time is the non-photoperiod-sensitive “RD99” or “Hawm Khlong Luang 72” rice. The harvesting period is 115 days, with productivity around 780 kilograms/rai. This type of rice was developed through a cross between IR841 and Chainat 1 by the Khlong Luang Rice Research Center under the Rice Department. It was officially registered as a new rice variety in 2024.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously granted 3,160 kilograms of the rice variety “RD97,” harvested in 2024, to the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, the Nakhon Nayok Provincial Agricultural Office, and the Nakhon Nayok Rice Seed Center. The Nakhon Nayok Provincial Agricultural Office has distributed the royal-granted rice seeds to Baan Wang Pla Lai Large-Scale Farmer Group for cultivation as seed rice for further propagation in the next season, as well as for processing into milled rice for consumption.
